From Graphic Designer to UX Designer

Stephanie Bell

UX Designer at The Hut Group

Stephanie Bell

What’s your career background?

I had five years of previous experience as a Graphic and Web Designer. I felt what I was doing in digital design was interesting, but there was so much that I needed to explore. I wanted to explore UX design because it felt like an industry that was really thriving.

Why did you choose the Professional Diploma in UX?

The reviews were really good and I could see that so many people had positive experiences. I spoke to a few students who had already done it and it was really well respected.

The fact that the diploma came credit-rated by the Glasgow Caledonian University was really important. It showed employers that it was a distinguished, reputable and legitimate course, not just some short introduction to UX design I randomly found online.

Since completing the course, how has your career progressed?

The diploma actually changed my career and it’s given me the opportunity that I wanted. The knowledge gained from the course, teamed with my UX portfolio, is really what secured me my role as a UX designer.

Would you recommend the course to others? Why?

I definitely recommend the UX Design Institute to other people, and I have done it for everyone that’s messaged me on LinkedIn about it. Taking the Professional Diploma in UX Design has been one of the best things that I’ve ever done.

What advice would you give someone considering the Professional Diploma in UX Design?

I’d say do your research; read reviews, speak to the UX Design Institute team, read Medium articles on UX to make sure it’s something you’re interested in.
